The Vision

Arts District West is a modern urban development of ten luxury condominiums and mixed-use spaces draws on a striking aesthetic contrast between light and dark wood tones, offering both visual depth and connection to the regional landscape.

The Solution

Ranchwood™ Artisan in Glacier Grey was chosen for its weathered, rustic character, blending seamlessly with the mountain environment. The darker Charwood™ Midnight adds a bold, modern contrast, delivering a dynamic interplay between tones and textures.

Design Considerations

The design team prioritized material selections that would complement the rugged natural surroundings of Jackson while achieving a sophisticated finish. The cool Glacier Grey and deep Midnight tones provide a durable and refined exterior suited for the alpine environment.

Fire Treatment

The Vision

This luxury hotel, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, was designed to fuse mountain serenity with Jackson’s western heritage. The design demanded a refined exterior that met both aesthetic and safety criteria.

The Solution

MTP’s Fireline protection was utilized to provide an elegant, eye-catching exterior that not only looks stunning but also meets fire safety precautions. There are two distinct siding elements that were created specifically for this project to meet the inspired aesthetic vision.

THE VISION

The design intention of this structure was to create a modern cabin with blurred lines between inside and outside spaces.  Contrasting light and dark shou sugi ban was selected to energize the living quarters and calm the resting spaces.  The building location is perfectly situated on a bouldered bench in a secluded valley of Central Washington.

THE SOLUTION

Midnight and Tiger Charwood™ were intentionally selected for a distinctive natural interior and exterior envelope on this secluded cabin retreat. The divergent char colors of this shou sugi ban inspired product instills a stunning contrastive aesthetic that flows naturally with the beauty that surrounds it. The line between inside and outside is ambiguous, allowing a cozy inside feel while surrounded by a striking mountainscape.

Where:  Vermont
Products:  Aquafir™ and Charwood™ product lines.  Siding and trim are a combination of Aquafir™ in Battleship color with wire brushed texture and Charwood™ in Midnight color. Wood substrate is Western Red Cedar, all kiln dried.

Product Use:  Siding is comprised of 1×10 vertical shiplap and 1×8 horizontal channel rustic profiles.  The two-step fascia consists of 5/4×4 and 5/4×10 square edge boards.  Window trim is 5/4×3 square edge material.  The patio posts and beams are wrapped with 1×6 square edge boards.

This inviting residence in the Green Mountains of Vermont was designed to be family friendly and highly functional.  Montana Timber Products materials serve to enhance the symmetry and balance of the design intent.  In the wetter climate of the eastern seaboard, acclimated Western Red Cedar is a great option for dimensional stability while offering inherent resistance to mold and decay.  The specific needs for this project in applications of siding, fascia, trim, and post & beam wrap were all custom milled under one roof, by Montana Timber Products.
